And if so, it would have been very late. Yes, he had caught the eyes of scouts, but the book really was to see how he would fare without Settle next to him. While injuries hampered him, he was clearly not the same without Tim Settle right next to him.
Walker bet on himself. If he had had a great year, he might have become a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Without Settle though, his weaknesses were extremely glaring.
