They depreciate a bit.
Lose that extra year of Rookie contract, which is the "trick" in today's NFL --- get a decent QB on rookie contract, and then you have $$$ to fill the other positions. Seattle did it with Wilson, and most recently with KC and LA Rams.
Also, when you compare Rosen's rookie year to Mayfield & Darnold --- Rosen didn't show a ton of on-field potential, leadership, etc. Granted, Rosen had a terrible coach/offense situation in Arizona. But some of that "stink" is dragging down his market-value.
But yes, the overall depreciation is outta whack. Rosen still has 1st-round potential & upside (almost everybody agrees on this), yet some teams are only dangling a 3rd-rounder?
