Heading over in May for 2 weeks

First 3 days in Dublin, then renting a car and heading over to the west coast for the rest of the trip. Ennis has a music/dancing/story telling celebration, also visiting Dingle and Galway.

If you rented a car, any advice? I'm currently thinking manual transmission even though I haven't driven one in 30 years, but the automatics are damn pricey.
