Depends on how we define "smart"

When we think of "smart," we typically think of someone's IQ, which has more to do with critical thinking, problem solving, pattern recognition, and the like. Not your ability to remember random pieces of trivia across broad and varied categories.

A remarkable Jeopardy contestant may or may not have a high IQ. But they definitely have a fantastic memory, and the ability to access anything in it within a second or two.
