True, but I know someone who was on Jeopardy!


Who explained how the game isn't nearly as much about knowledge as most people think it is.

This guy may very well be smarter than the average bear. But on Jeopardy!, everyone is smart.
What separates winners and losers isn't knowledge, but their ability to time buzzing in.

Maybe he can answer 99.9% of the clues instead of 80% like a typical contestant. And maybe he really is one of the smartest people on the planet. But he would still get smoked by another contestant if they were somehow better at buzzing in than he was.

Perhaps I was hasty in downplaying this guy's knowledge. But I'll stand fast on my statements that buzzer timing is still more important for winning the game.
