most of Mercury's points and believe @WillStewart did a good job of refuting them below, I think there is an angle to the value issue. It is highly unlikely, in my opinion, VT can upgrade the value given to ACC basketball. However, a bottom of the barrel program can damage the perception of the conference and indirectly affect value. If the tournament selection committee views the overall strength of the conference top to bottom as declining then it could affect the number of at large berths given in March.
