The Hokies head to Charlotte on Wednesday for a mid-week doubleheader with UNCC or simply “Charlotte” as they like to be called. With the Hokies having a huge upcoming showdown with the “other” UNC school, this preview will be a little lighter than usual, but I’ll hit the highlights.

The 49ers stand at 12-28 overall, 3-12 in Conference-USA. RPI-wise, their best win has been against #62 Grand Canyon University as they have gone 0-4 against the Top 50. Against other ACC members, the 49ers have lost to UNC 9-0(5), NC State 12-2(5), Duke 3-1, and UVA 6-0. They come into Wednesday’s games having lost 7 of their last 8.

The 49ers have struggled in the circle with a Team ERA of 6.36. Innings have been fairly evenly distributed with Senior Lauren Riley leading the team in ERA at 5.74. She registered the team’s lone shutout last week against Campbell.

Charlotte has a team batting average of .288 with 4 starters with .300+, headlined by Sophomore Katie Manring, who leads the team in average (.342) and Home Runs (11). Other .300 hitters include Bailey Vannoy (.323), Kiersten Berrier (.321), and Emma Ocker (.320).
The 49ers don’t run much, as they have only 9 stolen bases in 12 attempts.
