For me there is a split between recognizing the talent / accomplishment
and who he is as a person. I wasn't personally thrilled to see him win, knowing he is a terrible person as cut down on any intrigue but I can certainly appreciate that he has immense talent and is an exciting golfer to watch.
At the end of the day, I was indifferent to him winning. I'll generally cheer for golfers/athletes that I THINK are good people, but even with most of them you have no idea.
I don't know that he was a philanderer like Tiger but take Michael Jordan as an example - despite his charm in Space Jam and being elevated as the best basketball player of all time, Jordan is actually a massive jerk but seemingly gets a pass. How many celebrities are upheld as good guys only to let everyone down when the curtain gets pulled back. The characters these guys play on TV or on social media when the cameras are rolling have little bearing on who they really are. We can root for the "good guy" but we don't really know who the good guys are...
