It's a combination of his age and his inexperience at the major conference

level. Being 55 by itself isn't a problem at all. Being 55 and spending your entire coaching career at a small conference school before trying to break into arguably the best basketball conference in the country is a reason for concern. It's going to require him to change his approach to certain things and that can be difficult when you've done things the same way for over half your life.
