Bud Foster is 59, and we are talking his age being a problem recruiting
Well, more his lack of a contract combined with his age/health/possible lack of dedication. So yeah, 45 makes that less likely to be a problem than 55 does. Doesn't mean the 55 year-old is doomed, just another risk.
Most people do most of their professional development between 25-45, then stick with the philosophies that served them best during that time the rest of their career. Plenty of folks in their 50s still innovate, but it's much more rare.
