So who here knew that you shouldn't have a teeth cleaning until 6 weeks

after shoulder surgery?

I had a torn labrum worked on 12 days ago. Today, I had my previously scheduled every 6 month checkup and cleaning with my dentist. They asked "Any recent surgeries" and I said "Yes, my right shoulder. Be careful with it when you're working from that side."

They had to call the orthopedic office and see if I could have a tooth cleaning. The answer "yeah, probably, BUT they recommend against it as there's a higher risk of infection when the cleaning could put some bacteria into your bloodstream"

So the bacteria DOESN'T do that when I haven't had surgery? And this even applies to arthroscopic surgery where they've already pulled the stitches and told me that I don't even need bandaids any more?

So I'm now scheduled for May 10th.
