Two things (and sorry if I offend anyone).

On one hand, I am convinced that there is subconscious race bias (not saying "racist") when it comes to Fuente. Honestly that's most football coaches in general. 6'0" 200 lb white kid who runs a 4.4 or a 6'" 200 lb black kid who runs a 4.4 (or even slower)...coaches, especially Fuente are going with the black kid. Look at Coleman Fox. Two years ago he was an automatic first down. Yes, it was garbage time mostly, but seriously, he was good for 8 yards or so every time he touched the ball. Other backs like Holston, for example, who play in garbage time, were higher on the depth chart with significantly less production.

On the other hand, we are going off absolutely nothing in our evaluation of Cole Beck as a Virginia Tech running back. His football days at Blacksburg High School are null and void as far as I'm concerned - same with track. Get him in pads, in D1 ACC speed, and then we can have the discussion. Until we see him perform even a little bit, let's stop the talk about Cole Beck. I'm tired of hearing about him. Now, if one day, next season hopefully, we have reason to talk about him because he's crushing it on the field, then by all means I'd be the first to celebrate. But we've gotten way too ahead of ourselves with this kid.
