SoClose, to the AthDept, all women's sports are an afterthought.
Senior night for the MBB, Whit was there. WBB, he was a no show. My wife suggested, that when selling MBB season tickets, throw in a season ticket to WBB for $50. The AthDept doesn't market it, doesn't encourage attendance, and seem to think that any women's sport is only to comply with Title IX.
Winning would help. An outreach to the students by KB might help (much like Buzz and Seth did). Basketball "purists" (whatever that means) will follow WBB because the women are usually fundamentally sound--the men are so athletic and play above the rim.
I've been surprised by KB's salary, because that does indicate some commitment on Whit's part; but as I said, the effort appears to be an afterthought.
