The NCAA violated it because no college team could go anywhere else.

The NCAA had a dictatorial monopoly of what was broadcast and no college team could go anywhere else. The NCAA also only would show the games on ABC for football. No other television network could show a game at all.

Now they didn't do this with basketball. It was just football.

If ESPN had all of the P5 conference networks, the G5 is not restrained from another carrier contracting with them or for any of the P5 conferences to go anywhere else when the contract term expires. I agree it is unlikely they would pay start up all over again with another entity, but they aren't restrained from doing it.
