Never seen stalling with a cradle

in general, I don't think there've been much if any restriction for keeping an opponent on his back. I think the factor of Mekhi getting partially rolled (where he was in a back bridge) left his strong enough to keep the hold for 30'ish seconds but not enough to improve it and work for the pin.

there could be a rule about holding an opponent in near fall too long, but I've never seen it and don't think that would go through Mekhi's mind. I think Coach Robie said in an interview he wanted to hold him there the whole period.

Cradle's are a relatively high pinning percentage move, considering how few pins there are in NCAA D1 wrestling. I think 165 and 285 were the only ones that really had someone in danger of getting pinned. If he had been able to take Cenzo over while keeping his chest down he very likely would have gotten the fall or kept him there even longer.
