More on cradles

cradles are one of the first moves taught to young wrestlers. the great thing is there are so many variations and so many ways to set them up and lock them up.
In this case, Makhi saw that Joseph brought his inside knee up to stand up but at the same time he dropped his head. That is when Makhi pounced. He locked up a standing inside cradle and rocked him over from the standing position. In Most cases this type of cradle is not going to result in a pin, but it is strong and allows for the near fall point. Makhi did the right thing in that after he had his points, he tried to improve the hold for the pin, but as soon as Joseph reacted he released
the hold for the escape. it is a weak position after the hold is broken or released. So to fight to hold it could have put Makhi in danger with someone as strong as joseph.

The entire tournament was a great example of coaching and execution by a great athlete. In the earlier match with Wick, Makhi didn't allow Wick to ride him or allow him get on top because
he is a hammer on top and has great leg rides. In the Marinelli match it was a case of great mat awareness and determination to stay in position and maintaining hip control in a scramble!

Makhi had a tourney of a lifetime with great examples of his physicality and our great coaching staff scouting to perfection!
