Exactly - think about the extremes, and middle ground, and impact on school


five-star qb comes to USC, expected to bring glory, Rose Bowls, national championships
Top student from middle class family, #1 in her class, merit scholar, good extra-curricular, would get in just on merit as student
Rich kid whose parents make a huge donation to grease skids.

Long term, which student will have the most positive impact on school? I think it's either #1 (increased revenue and exposure) or #3 (likelihood of future donations). I would think 95% of each class is in the same boat as #2, so I have no problem reserving slots for the kids in boats one and three above. Problem here is that individuals pocketed the money rather than the school, and fraud was committed on the tests.
