The commission’s split between the 2 brokers if there are 2 brokers & then

The brokers have to split with the 2 agents. You also have to think about all the time the agents drove around learning the market which changes constantly & of course all of the many deals that wasted their time and gas because the deal didn’t happen. Dealing with the public can be a royal pain in the rear especially when it comes to money.
Still people should know that everything is negotiable in real estate & get creative. The buyer can make an offer contingent on both agents accepting a 2 1/2 commission or the seller can accept on offer contingent upon the same thing. That advice goes for the buyer & the seller. Neither party has to even use an agent if they don’t want to but they also shouldn’t expect agents to work for free.
Most people have tunnel vision when it comes to their money which prevents them from appreciating the value of an agent’s services. What they really should be focusing on is living within their means. If they can’t afford a Buick then buy a Chevrolet. They’ll find life is easier if they aren’t house poor.
