My understanding is that 737 Max has 2 AOA vanes (sensors) only 1 signal


used by MCAS. I’m not sure if 1 is designated for MCAS or if the system alternates the sensor each flight. Simple (actually, simple is never “simple” 😉) might be to alternate AOA sensor each flight (If not done already) with a comparator upstream. To alert the crew or system controller to investigate and swap sensors or disable MCAS.
