Early Myers vs Terao scouting report
Wrestlestat predicts #9 Terao over #20 Myers 7-6. A key common opponent is Chas Tucker from Cornell -- Myers lost 4-9 and Terao lost 3-8.
Has only several losses this season and 3 of them came on the same day. Closer inspection says he can't beat anyone ranked higher than #20 or so. Myers has more losses, but top-to-bottom has faced much stiffer competition and has several quality wins. Last couple of years Terao really has not shown up for NCAAT. NOTE: At Edinboro last year, Myers beat Gustafson twice. I think the NCAAT seeding for Terao @19 and Myers @14 has it right.
Terao wants to tie up and play upper body in neutral. Does not have much shooting offense and leads with his right leg. Tends to flee rather than counter when shot upon. Susceptible to single leg takedown to the left (his right leg)...tends to give up when on one foot (unlike Mekhi who seems to have an unbelievable talent to fend off single legs standing). Myers is tested and I think the better quality wrestler. Myers needs to avoid tight tie ups, get Terao to put weight on right leg and shoot often to the left side (Terao's right). And I wouldn't give up the pursuit if the leg is missed as Terao tends to turn his back when shot upon. Terao is not much of a threat on top -- easy to escape from.
I think Myers wins by 3.
