Hmm, you still didn't get it. The door isn't even attached to the spring
at the time of tightening it. Google garage door torsion spring installation if your're interested. You're thinking of the kind that has lifting springs on each side of the door that stretch when closed and barely stretched when open.. I had that kind in Calif. They were easier to install, but still dangerous. I remember my first house in Canoga Park, CA where I decided to paint the inside of the door. I leaned on the springs on one side and they let go (broke)..Hit me in the head, (that's why I'm like I am:) and knocked over my gallon of paint. The garage didn't have a man door and the door was heavy, but I managed to get it up high enough to squeeze under it and out. questions?
