US open wheel was as great as anything up into the early 90's. Aero rules


made passing almost impossible so they did crap like the Hanford device. It was already getting uninteresting when the IRL split finished it off. They turned it into kit cars running around on a rev limiter.
I was once a huge IndyCar fan. The Indy 500 was far bigger to me than the Super Bowl or NCAA tournament. I would drive to Mid Ohio and Michigan to see races but I haven't even watched one on TV in close to 20 years.
