That's the major added factor --


When Boeing released the MAX, they did so with a note that zero additional training was necessary to be able to fly the MAX, as long as you were certified on the 737. So no one had any idea that anything was different.

Essentially what happens is that the autocontrols get into a vicious circle of thinking the plane is ascending too quickly and tries to force the angle down. Again. And again. And again. And unless you figure out exactly what's up, soon enough you're in a nose dive with no idea why.
