Most names should not offend. Some that do are probably pretty obvious. Others that might offend may or may be silly and have little to do with someone being a snowflake or not having a backbone. And I say this as someone not easily offended by names.

I think it is fine to have names like Aztecs or Chippewas other than the possibility of a Chippewa nation asking what right to do you have to incorporate our name. But the Spartans are not around to reclaim their name militarily unless Greece wants to hold the U.S. hostage like they did with Maceonia to get Macedonia to change its name.

What was the Red Storm again? Redmen? I can see changing that. I can see changing the Redskins. What about the Indians? Maybe American Indians (who go by their tribal or nation names) could say don't use our name since the owners of the Cleveland Indians are not Indians.

If there are some obvious, egregious ones, they should be changed IMHO. Otherwise.... hard to sanitize everything. Some might see a name as a sign of recognition or respect. but not necessarily heritage ..those Central Michigan Chippewas!
