Our incoming recruiting class is ranked #35 nationally, but...
8th (middle of the ACC) in the ACC. How much athleticism we have with this class is undetermined until we actually see them play vs. ACC competition.
Kenny needs to get his teams to become more physical. Dara Mabrey will be here for 3 more seasons and I'm sure that her PG skills will improve. It's no secret that she wants to lead this team. During tonight's game, the courtside announcer said that Mabrey was taking the leadership role during time outs. That's great for our future but explains why this year's team didn't do as well as they could've. Seniors are supposed to lead, not true freshmen. At least we'll have a leader for the next 3 years.
We'll have to wait and see if Kenny brings in 1 or 2 JUCO players. I wouldn't mind 2 graduate transfers coming in filling our front court needs.
As for the next season, our front court will have the #35 player in the nation Elizabeth Kitley (6'4" center) and another talented PG to back Mabrey. We also have a versatile 6'1" wing coming in along with Top 20 Canadian player. I really like Baptiste's improvement as the season progressed. There will be more pressure on Sheppard next season since she'll finally have a chance to be a full time starter. I have no clue how good Alex Obouh Fegue is. Thinking about it more, Kenny will probably have to bring in a JUCO/Grad Transfer SG. I expect another 6-10 type ACC season next year with another WNIT bid. My expectations won't be set high as they were the past 2 seasons.
