thus there is pretty much nothing that can be done about it.

If you want to be angry at corrupt politicians, ask why they made themselves exempt from Do Not Call Laws and why they don't prosecute campaigns that fail to remove known cell phones from their calling list despite the fact that it is illegal to call a cell phone without explicit permission (and there is no political exemption for that one).
