Moved to Charlotte from NoVa in 2014

Wanted a more southern, slower paced and cheaper style of living and that part has definitely delivered. People are generally nicer (granted a very low bar coming from DC) and are people you actually want to talk to

As for the city, you get to know uptown pretty quick. Can walk across it in 15 minutes. Overall, i think the best way to describe Charlotte is just "nice". Its relatively clean, decent food, shops, and bars but it is certainly still coming into its own. Not much culture to speak of (other than craft breweries). Day trips to football games are now doable (which is awesome)

Its just... a nice city. I have enjoyed my time here and like you mentioned, access to Asheville, Pisgah and Linville is awesome if you enjoy the outdoors. So while nothing drastically sticks out as a Charlotte positive (other than beer and the whitewater center), certainly noting sticks out as a Charlotte negative
