Some observations from yesterdays Softball game at Radford

First time seeing the team in action so thought I would make a few observations. Not that I am any expert. But here goes anyway.

Game was at Radford, but I estimate 40% of the fans were Hokies. Maybe more.

Keely Rochard gets a LOT of movement on the ball. On a few pitches I looked at my wife and said "did you see that". She is way improved this year.

Pete played a lot of true freshmen. Maddi Banks stood out to me. Very athletic and quick.

On the somewhat comical side we telegraphed a steal from 1st to 2nd. Told my wife they were going to steal. Radford catcher easily threw out the runner. They need to work on that.

Caitlyn Nolan. Where the heck did this come from? She is having an unbelievable year hitting the ball. 2 home runs. One of which she absolutely crushed just to left of center field.

Oliva Lattin is on crutches. Not sure if the nature of her injury was ever reported. But it doesnt look like she will be back anytime soon.

Meredith Slaw is physically the most impressive player I can remember. She makes the other players look like Jr high girls.

Mackenzie Lawter was the catcher and she is really solid if not ideal size.

Seems like a really good chemistry among these girls. They seem to care about and support each other in a very positive way. I tried to pay attention to that since it is a new staff and a lot of new players. Not nearly as much of the rah rah cheerleader type of chatter as in the past. They seem more business like in that regard.
