Especially our trade adversaries like China! If China hits us with a 40% tariff on American cars and car parts, we should impose the exact same on them. I'm still furious they are still stealing our IP, and aren't doing anything significant about it. (Not to mention all of the theft of our space & military R&D.)

I'm for free trade, and we haven't had that since the second world war, if not even before then. For some odd reason, our leadership has thought that we needed to give every other country in the world a handout, so we've basically allowed them to limit US goods in their markets. Heck, I thought NAFTA meant free trade between Canada, Mexico, & the US until President Trump said he wanted to renegotiate the deal. Who knew it (NAFTA) wasn't put in place to make it a level playing field? Not me. I trusted our leaders to, at the very least, put America interests on par with everyone else, if not putting us first. It appears we finally have a president who's doing that now...
