I've heard some experts say to be very careful with linking an allowance to


chores.

If you do, then a kid can just decide they don't need any money this week, so they can skip all their chores.

Learning how to take care of your responsibilities, even when you don't want to, is an extremely important life skill kids need to learn before they become adults. Giving them the power just just decide they don't want to do their chores can turn into a bad lesson to learn about adulting.
