Exactly. Hence why in my OP I left the door open to the possibility


that the Pac-12's model might work if the conference was located in either the Eastern or Central time zones. At least I think either the SEC or Big Ten could still find "success" (more than what the Pac-12 is experiencing right now and probably less than what they are experiencing with partners) if the conference decides to strike out on its own.

Since both conferences have a certain amount of established demand for content, I guess it is even possible they could experience the same level of success as what they currently experience with their partners. It would depend on how much money ESPN and Fox is keeping for themselves and how that money would compare to the additional cost that the conference would take on by striking out on its own.
