The ladies just finished their first spring tournament this morning, finishing 3rd in a strong 14 team field. They finished behind #11 Kent State and #7 Arkansas but finished ahead of #13 Northwestern, #21 TCU, #29 Purdue, #35 Georgia, #45 Iowa State, #48 Augusta and #50 NC State. The rankings were taken from the Golfstat tournament website and they don't totally mesh with the rankings shown on Golfstat's main website but they are close. According to the main website, the ACC is ranked as follows: #4 Duke, #14 Wake, #16 UVa, #20 FSU, #23 Clemson, #27 Miami, #28 Louisville, #32 UNC, #45 NC State, #59 VT, #72 ND and #108 BC. Apparently Pitt, Syracuse and GT don't field teams. This is odd for GT since their men's program is usually in the top 10.

We were led by Emily Mahar (-3) in third place and Elizabeth Bose (even) in a tie for fourth. Jessica Spicer was at +8, Amanda Hollandsworth at a disappointing (for her since she was our second best player last year) +11 and the freshman from Thailand, Keera Foocharoen, was at +14 (also a little disappointing since she was our second best player in the fall). Our sixth player in the tournament (most tournaments allow some additional players but they do not count in the scoring no matter how they play) was Sarah Spicer who also was +14.

For those of you not familiar with college golf, there are 5 scoring players for a team. For each of three rounds, only the 4 lowest scores are used in the scoring. It is important to go 5 deep to allow for a bad day from one of the players.

This team has the potential to make some waves in the ACC Tournament this year if everyone is playing well.
