Here is an article on the Pitt/Dixon divorce


Draw your own conclusions.

On one hand: Pitt relaxed the buyout (I have never heard of another school doing this) and i remember the fans largely wanting him gone.

On the other hand, the AD frames it as Dixon’s decision and they didn’t want to hold him hostage with a huge buyout.

I think AD was being a little PC here and it was kind of a mutual parting of ways. Pitt foolishly soured the relationship, I believe.
