Yeah, good win for Prata, but disappointing loss overall.
Just got back from Chapel Hill and am pretty deflated.
It wasn't the toss-ups that got us -- it was the upsets. 125 was a toss-up and Joey got the win there. Disappointing SV losses at 141 and 157 without much offense. Really hate that the ref decided 149 and I don't much like the call after seeing the reply. That said, while we could have won in SV, I didn't see anything that made me thought we *would* have won. 165 was a dominant win, but didn't get the turns. Good win at 174, but still concerned over the 3rd period fades. I thought ZZ may have had the best match of the night at 184, but I'm still baffled by the nearfall call in the 2nd. Ref swipes once, then they put up a 2NF *before* they go to the replay? The scoreboard was messed up forever on the UNC takedown that was waved off, and I don't think they ever did get the RT right. 285 was another disappointing loss with little offense.
I don't know what to say about 133 and 197, which are clearly matches we "should" have won. After Myers dominated in the first, he had decent shots in the 2nd -- the first was stuffed and then just gave up on the second. Still goes in with a hefty RT advantage and big lead, gives back his RT, and then just gets spanked. Sleigh has wrestled his share of close ones, and I wouldn't have been terribly surprised by a 3-2 loss. But giving up 3 TDs was pretty shocking, and giving up a RT point even more so. He finally started to get things together at do-or-die time. I'm still steamed about the potentially dangerous call when he was about to score -- a ride-out then would have erased the RT advantage and tied it 6-6. The near takedown at the edge late was irrelevant because RT was locked, but the UNC guy should have gotten hit with another stall then.
My biggest concern after the dual was that we faded late in a *lot* of matches. Except for 197, we were leading or tied late in all of our losses.
