Tournaments are so important

Like Hokie Flyer said very well, Robie has clearly decided that the higher profile tournaments do a better job of prepping his guys for the big end of year tournaments - ACC and NCAA. It only makes sense: it's the same format, with multiple matches over a day or two. Also, it helps reinforce for the guys how important it is to win your match or you are out or working back from the lower bracket (which is it's own important learning experience). Not that these guys haven't done this same thing all through high school, but this is at the highest level of competition, and the commitment and focus that it takes to make it through a grueling tournament needs to be reinforced again and again.

That said, having the duals - especially home duals - are obviously fun for the wrestlers and fans because the spotlight is on each wrestler one at a time, plus the team-win element.

It's all important for the team, and I think the coaches have chosen the right mix.
