What I heard is he wanted a "starting" spot and Fu wouldn't promise that, but that is a rumor. He was going to see a ton of PT regardless, so it's a shame it went down how it did. From his perspective, I can see how pressure to make the NFL could make you kind of paranoid about the optics of not starting for a college team. No need to say the kid was not a hard worker though.
