Fuente is a good coach, but can VT realistically do better? Are Hokie club

#s or season ticket holders really the key to athletic budget which dictates the coaching hire? Can VT go in the red to get a coach better than Fuente?

VT has had enough success in the past that for me, I would like to see them as a perennial top-10 team. I think it starts with HC. What’s the realistic budget number that gets that HC?

Weaver did the best he could at a much lower budget level, for whatever reason that was the level. Whit is doing the same at the current level. Is it possible to increase that budget level to go beyond the Fuente HC and staff level? I’d like to see that happen.

CBW is the best MBB coach VT has had in decades. It looks to me he is more likely to leave than not. When he does leave, can we ensure that 1) VT does not return to a level of mediocrity, and 2) can we find a coach that can accomplish the things that CBW couldn’t? This year is a fun year and there are always wins and losses. But in the best year, does 1-2 players’ injuries need to determine the fate of the season? Can VT MBB get to the point of being a perennial ACC contender?

One team I am watching in football is GT. I don’t know what their FB budget is, but it will be interesting to see where they are 3 years from now, given a complete overhaul of their football program post 3x option. Did they spend enough money to revamp their program?
