It could be the criteria of the takedown, the two refs may have crossed


their signals and gotten confused. I think one was swiping up indicating the danger rule which was new last year - even though DMF didn't have control enough for takedown (I think his head was trapped), Duke was exposing his own back and once that count gets to three a takedown is to be awarded. For nearfall, an additional 2 seconds (2 swipes) are needed My guess is that one ref was counting for danger and the other somehow started the nearfall count before the danger count was reached.

For the clock, I believe whether it makes a difference to the wrestling situation or not they reset the clock to the point where they change anything from a video replay because in theory anything called differently would cause the wrestlers to wrestle the situation differently. I think its just to remove judgement calls.

It was confusing to watch without the explanation - but that's my best guess.
