VT vs Duke Predictions .


I normally get my more detailed predictions in for the ACC duals but missed last week's Pitt matchup as I just provided a simple analysis. General thoughts about Duke is that they are an incredibly thin squad. They have no backups at 133, 174, 184, and 285 and have forfeited 133 for all of their duals I think. NC State beat Duke 30-12 last week but no Fausz or Reenan. Here you go (I am using the coaches panel rankings).

125: UR Joey Prata vs. UR Harrison Campbell
Campbell got TFed last week by Wolfpack's Zurich Storm. Based on his recent matches, I like Prata here with a decision.
VT 3-0

133: #15 Korbin Myers vs. Unknown
Probable forfeit.
VT 9-0

141: #22 Mitch Moore vs. #30 Josh Finesilver
Mitch definitely trending up but those Finesilvers are tough although he got pinned last week by NCState wrestler Jamel Morris. MM by decision.
VT 12-0

149: #30 Ryan Blees vs. #6 Mitch Finesilver
Touch matchup for Ryan as this Finesilver already beat him 6-2 at Cliff Keen. Similar result here but Finesilver beat #7 Justin Oliver of the Pack last week 10-0.
VT 12-3

157: #19 BC LaPrade vs UR Brandon Leynaud
BC should control this match from the onset and win by decision, maybe major but BC is a little methodical to pile up too many points. Leynaud did not go last week (Ben Anderson lost by major to Hidley. Either way, decision here.

VT 15-3

165: #8 Mehki Lewis vs. #25 Zach Finesilver.
Mehki controls and possibly majors Finesilver.
VT 19-3

174: #6 David McFadden vs. #16 Matt Finesilver
DMF wins by decision but will be a tough match. State's Thomas Bullard beat Matt last week 4-3.
VT 22-3

184: #7 Zach Zavatsky vs. Ur Kayden Russell
Russell beat a Wolfpack backup last week but I think a major is here.
VT 26-3

197: #9 Tom Sleigh vs. UR Alec Schenk
Sleigh is really rolling right now, great defensive skills will carry him to a regular decision. Malik McDonald beat Schenk 8-5 last week.
VT 29-3

285: #15 Billy Miller vs UR Araad Fisher
Miller wears him down for a decision. Fisher lost 2-0 to NCS Deonte Wilson last week.

Maybe somebody gets upset (125 or 141 maybe) but I will go 9-1 match wins for VT. Final VT 32-3
