I don't know the exact reasons, but a lot of people projected him at 157.

He came in a little too physically mature and the coaches wanted him to get into college wrestling without making a big cut. So McFadden and Lewis both wrestled at 165. Lewis was unattached obviously. I don't know if that was the plan all along or not. It seems pretty common to redshirt guys even when they can contribute in wrestling. McFadden was good enough in the 2nd half of his second year coming off an ACL tear and redshirted. Lewis redshirted last year. Bolen is one of our best wrestlers and is redshirting this year.
