I retired because I was going to retire but...

it didn't help that somehow, the contractors that we hired managed to use Oracle w/o using Oracle. They built tables then managed to do all the transactions using Java. No data schemas etc. This is probably something that started out as a spreadsheet and they were too lazy, incompetant to tear it all up and do it right, at many times in the past. So now we get these things where you fix one thing, it breaks something else. Another thing is that they've managed to get themselves between us, the guys that pay them and the folks providing the requirements.

It wasn't rocket science, it should have been straight relational database stuff that's been done before, companies, POCs table of requirements (to be managed, not the database itself) etc. I *think* I could write up the data schema in a week, if not a day or two.

Just mind boggling, thanks for letting me spout. I retired shaking my head, it hurts me to think they're still fucking it up. The woman after me left pretty quickly too. It hasn't been a year.
