Mitchell has been on the coaching staff since 2016

That is 3 years to judge his body of work on. I am not saying that Mitchell should or should not be fired this offseason. What I am saying is that Mitchell should be one of the coaches eligible for the chopping block because he has been on the staff for multiple years.

A factor whether Mitchell should be fired or not is whether his skills as a coach is trending in the right direction or not. It is possible 2018 was a fluke year for him. However, if he started out hot in 2016 and steadily declined over the next 2 years, then he may not be trending in the right direction. Even if he has put players in the NFL and statistically it appears he is doing his job, it is possible the decline is in player development. Depending on the pecking order of what Fuente grades his assistant coaches on, a lack in player development could be enough to make a change on the staff.
