recently at his golf club in South Florida (also met Carl Yastrzemski and several other well-known athletes) but I came away from that encounter with a lot of respect for him. I was sitting on the clubhouse veranda eating lunch with my golf partners and Marino came out as if to look for someone. He looked at our table and noticed we were "strangers" and not club members. He came over and introduced himself and said "Hi, I'm Dan Marino. Welcome to the club and hope you enjoy your stay". He certainly didn't have to do that, but he went out of his way to introduce himself (like that was really necessary) and to make it a point to wish us a good time. Great encounter and fantastic club.
