The buzzword everyone hates, Synergy
The ACC would get priority on the primetime ABC game from Disney because of the partnership in the network and the entire rights package.
An example outside of sports but within Disney. The show "Marvel's Agents of Shield" has been on for 5 or 6 seasons IIRC. It is an expensive show to produce (over $5M) an episode, and it doesn't get really good ratings to justify an expensive show continuing on. But, it does, and the reason why is that it takes place in the Marvel Universe. The main Marvel characters Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor don't appear in the show, but some of the 7th and 8th characters from those movies do. In essence, the show serves as a promotional tool for the Marvel movies. So, Disney spends roughly $150M from September to May on what amounts to advertising for the Marvel Universe.
Everyone is happy. Disney gets to promote year round one of its biggest franchises, Marvel gets licensing fees for a series based off of characters created for the show, and the fans get more comic book "based" content to watch.
That's how this works with Disney and the ACC. Everybody wins. Disney gets a big event to broadcast on a Saturday night on ABC in which they promote subscribing to the ACC Network but also promote upcoming ACC Network events. The ACC gets a primetime event to showcase its football teams, and the fans get a "free game" they can watch at home.
Another way to look at it is that Disney is giving their biggest supplier a bonus as a way of saying thank you.
