I preferred the VT of 40 years ago.... Coddling kids in college.....

does not make better more successful adults or even humans..... in my opinion. As for athletics, it does impact student cost and life....Every student pays a fee for athletics and the time, energy and physical space devoted to athletics detracts from resources available otherwise. And coming soon.....Wait and see what happens when when athletics runs a deficit. Do we reall need 5 star dining, cushy dorms and the millions of dollars spent at VT for the sake of diversity and “inclusion”? In my view, it would be better to have less, cut the bloat and tuition.....even at the expense of losing a few students and college ranking points. I do not thin VT will be a better school with 43k or 35k students. I completely disagree with President Sands “vision” for the university. Unfortunately, I fear the course is irreversible and other than the Hokiestone and mountains, VT will be a virtually unrecognizable place to those that came before.....It will cease being “home”.
