Have always wondered about conferences and AAU membership

It seems the B1X schools support their fellow school's AAU membership, but my perception is that the ACC seems to have taken an approach of, "if I help you gain AAU status, I won't be as exclusive in the region."

I'm primarily looking at Dook & UNC, but also a little at UVA too. Thank goodness GT was granted AAU membership! The fact they weren't in before was an insult...just as I feel insulted VT hasn't been granted membership yet. If you look at research grants, VT has more than quite a few current AAU members.

Still hoping our MD med school starts generating more research $$$$$. By the way, does the bio-medical engineering partnership with WF Med School's research $$ count towards VT? Does VT split the vet research $$s with MDU?
