As a lifelong Lady Vols fan, I abandoned ship after the first 5 years of the Holly Warlick experiment because frankly I just don't like her. I was excited to see Kenny Brooks coach last year as he was encouraging and the team was excited and never gave up. I hope that people will give him a chance. It takes a few years to build a team that you want to have in place. What I saw in the first 13 games was a team that depended too much on one or two players, a weak defense to include rebounding and a lack of ability to adapt to the changes the other teams were making.

I was made at the Syracuse game watching Kendyl shoot a three and retreat, but at least at the UVA game she was rebounding. The UVA game had many positives, but the announcer hinted at the fact UVA wasn't going to the boards. Once that began, Tech began to shoot poorly then as typical, no one was under the basket to rebound. McGarity is one person, but often not under the basket when the 3's get jacked up. The offense is a perimeter offense with little paint presence. When you only have one quality big who finds herself on the perimeter or bringing the ball up the floor, you're going to lose the rebound battle.

Hoping that time will teach these ladies to find a person and box out and that next year brings in some bigger, sturdier ladies. We have some beanpoles out there. I for one wish Trinity Baptiste was about 4 inches taller, she is scrappy and doesn't shy from a fight.

We need a defensive stopper too. Someone who can't be beat off the dribble - our ladies are caught flat footed and many are slow.

Let's give it another year and see what happens. Meanwhile support the team that is out there. Don't leave early, stand up and cheer for them. They need our support.
