Agreed. This "Dudley Do-Right" ethos is great in movies and ESPN 30 for 30

but its not a very useful application in the real world. For every "Rudy" story out there, there's 1000 kids whose limited eligibility is squandered. This is sports.nobody is dying here. This is entertainment.

Coaches get canned and walk away with contract $$ most people couldn't earn in several lifetimes. Players get benched, and coaches are content to let them continue to sit there at best, pull their scholly at worst. Nobody is looking out for them. Nor should they really. We all have to climb our own ladders. Well, maybe that player doesn't want to sit on the bench for 4 years. Maybe he has greater aspirations than sitting on the bench.

College football is a game of musical chairs. Too many players, not enough positions on the field. If you want to play college football, and your not playing college football at your college, go somewhere you can play college football. Its not complicated or immoral in any way.
