...system a charade just because some (and I would estimate a minority) of student-athletes don’t like school and are just doing the school work in order to play football. That doesn’t sound like a charade to me but rather a small portion of people in the system that don’t have the motivations about school as most students. It only becomes a charade at programs where the athletes don’t have to do their school work — which seems to be the case at VT and other football factories (given the stories told). But that doesn’t make the entire student-athlete model a charade...it just makes specific programs corrupt.
