Think Frank started that strategy earlier than that...

I think he started building to beat Miami in the early 90s, if not earlier, but it took a few years for that to bear fruit.

Frank realized you don't beat Miami with a bunch of big, but slow guys. He needed faster/quicker guys, so he had to move some "smaller guys" into "larger guy" positions. For some odd reason, even some Hokie fans think Frank just wanted small guys on the field. Frank put the biggest fast guys he could recruit in those positions. If he found a big, fast guy to play DE, that guy played DE. If he recruited a big, but not that fast LB, that guy had a good chance of being moved to another position.

That baffles me to this day when I see a Hokie fan say Frank only wanted small guys at every position. Would understand if non-Hokies thought this way, but our own fans?
